Management Reporting

Many people including clients and employees owe a lot to the founder of OASys – David Buxton – for getting us to where we are today. Here are his views on where we have come from, and where he sees us going, although if the last 14 years are anything to go by it can all change very quickly.


“more than just book keepers to our clients…”

Many years ago as a newly qualified accountant I believed the general practitioner delivered short on clients’ expectations and moved into the commercial world of accounting. Following more than ten years working for others in senior financial roles in companies operating large holiday parks or managed pubs with over 200 outlets I then, as a founder director, ran a small business operating just ten pubs. Once we had been swallowed up by the big boys I recognised that there were many small operators with growth ambitions but without the appropriate day to day financial support they required to succeed.


So in October 2000 I set up Open Administration Systems (trading as OASys) with just three full time staff to provide an accounting service specialising in, but not limited to, pubs, bars and restaurants countrywide. The aim was to become more than just bookkeepers to our clients.


Each year the business has grown steadily and now the current team contains over fifty people who are excellent in their field and have the capacity to manage and support the natural growth of our clients businesses.


In order to provide the platform for the next stage of growth we appointed three of the team to be Directors, two of whom qualified whilst working with us and the other qualified in practice, all have demonstrated their enthusiasm for the business. We have also made further investments to upgrade our software, network and security systems.

Thirteen years ago I wrote:


“There is still a large amount of ‘churn’ taking place in the pub, club, bar and restaurant market and this will continue. Many of the entrepreneurs anticipate a turnaround of a maximum of five years and do not wish to commit to the costs and risks of employment and prefer to buy-in experts in their field.


All clients have come from word of mouth and we have not yet searched out our network of business contacts let alone carried out any publicity. We have clients who are backed by wealthy individuals, merchant banks and venture capitalists.


We also have good relationships with many of the leading providers of EPOS and data capture systems to the retail hospitality market.”


The weird thing is that all of that is still true today and we have supported many businesses through that including a few who have been clients from the very beginning. In 2014 I gave in to pressures from those who, despite a recommendation and the knowledge of our business, are reluctant to engage a business without a web presence and was proud to launch our first website in 2014.

Having spent seven years at Oasys in 2017 Tom left to join a Top 10 Professional Services firm to head up a new outsourcing service line for a regional office.  Three years later Tom returned as CEO to help drive the company forward by combining his prior experience with Oasys and the hospitality industry alongside his recent experience at a large accountancy practice.

About Becky

Becky started her career early while still at school running a sweet shop at weekends before taking a full time position in the admin department at INVISTA, she was quickly promoted to purchase ledger and joined Oasys in 2008. Becky completed her AAT with us and was promoted to Assistant Accountant taking responsibility for some management accounts from start to finish as well. Following that Becky was promoted to be Training Manager responsible for the development of all our team and then further promoted to Operations Manager. In November 2018 Becky was appointed as Operations Director.

About Ashley

Ashley joined OASys as office support in March 2009 and was given responsibility of his own clients several months after joining. Ashley was promoted to purchase ledger supervisor four years later and was promoted again in 2016 to Operations Manager as part of the new company structure.

Marie joined the team in August 2018 as our Office Manager. Marie comes from a varied background and has over 15 years of management experience and has previously worked for NatWest, The Post Office, Whitbread and Tesco.


Gianni Diurno

About Gianni

Gianni graduated with a degree in Accounting and Financial Management and joined a local haulage company CM Downton where he gained much valuable experience. From there he moved onto Dairy Partners and then onto Oasys in 2015. Starting at Oasys as a Management Accountant Gianni was promoted to Senior Management Accountant in April 2018.
